Why it matters
Dust on the indoor coil and filters makes the unit work harder for less cooling, and that shows up on your power bill through a Melbourne summer. A blocked drain is the most common reason a split system drips, and a dirty indoor unit is where the musty smell comes from. How often should a split system be serviced?
Once a year, ideally in spring before the heat. Twice a year if it runs all year round or you have pets.
How long does it take?
About 60 minutes for one unit; 30 to 40 minutes for each extra unit.
Do I need to be home?
Someone needs to let us in and sign off at the end; you don't need to stay for the whole service.
Is a service the same as a clean?
No. A service covers the whole system's performance and safety. A deep clean strips the indoor unit for mould and odour problems.
What if my unit is under warranty?
We service it the same way; the report is your proof of annual maintenance for the manufacturer.
